Lucy Beaman Hobbs became the first woman in the world to become a licensed dentist in 1866.

Proper Flossing

1 - Wind about 18" of dental floss around the index fingers of each hand. Rest your middle fingers on the floss, leaving only about 1" - 2" length of floss taught between the middle fingers.

2 - Use the middle fingers to guide floss between the lower teeth. For the lower front teeth, use the thumb and middle finger.

3 - Use the thumb and middle finger to guide floss between the upper teeth.

4 - Gently guide the floss between the teeth.
DO NOT SNAP FLOSS BETWEEN YOUR TEETH.

5 - Cup the floss around the side of each tooth.

6 - Slide the floss up and down, and side to side, (similar to shinning a shoe) against the tooth surface and UNDER THE GUMS .
